Aberaeron Festival of Welsh Ponies and Cobs
On the 8th of August Gwyn and the team headed off to open the Festival Of Welsh
Ponies and Cobs with a dazzling display of coachmanship in the ring. The team set
off from the National Trust owned Llanerchaeron, a house built by the famous John
Nash, about 3 miles out of Aberaeron,. Here the President of Ceredigion, the newly
elected Mayor of Ceredigion and the famous rugby player Ray Gravell and his family
boarded the coach to be taken in style to the main event. There were a couple of
changes to the team this time, with new boys Peter and Pascal joining Mark and Luke
to pull the heavy load of 14 passengers! The team set off down the road to deliver
their cargo, and arrived in the main ring at 12pm to mark the start of the show.
A great day was had by all, and once again the Tristar Carriage Driving team shone
as a main attraction at the event.

Aberystwyth Show
On the 12th June Gwyn and the team were invited to give a demonstration at the Aberystwyth
& Ceredigion County Show. The team went beautifully in the coach, and despite
the pressure of unfamiliar surroundings, gave an excellent performance. The team
were well received on the day, and described by the Cambrian News as the highlight
for visitors! In this picture the coach was uses to transport the YFC Queen and
her attendants around the show ring

The New Coach!
As many people may already know, Gwyn recently purchased a Park Drag coach form
Reading Carriage Sales. The purchase was obviously unusual for the area, as it was
broadcast on Radio Ceredigion on Tuesday 25th May! The coach was taken for its first
run on the Sunday, and the horses responded to it very well. The coach seats are
over 8' off the ground, so it can be a little hairy for the grooms leaping up on
top whilst its moving! The coach is a replica built in Poland, and is beautifully
crafted from the richest materials.

Windsor Park 2004
On the 17th March 2004 the Tristar Carriage Driving Team traveled down to their
first event - a sponsored drive in aid of Great Ormond Street Children's hospital.
|
|
The team arrived at Guard's polo ground on the Sunday morning, having traveled down
to Windsor the day before, The car park was teeming with carriages and horses of
all shapes and sizes, all looking forward to the exciting drive ahead. Unfortunately,
the weather was against us - and the heavy rain spells throughout the day also ensured
a very muddy track!
The drive took the team through the beautiful and ever-changing scenery of the Great
Park - rolling parkland, forestry, and sumptuous drives. Mathew, Mark, Luke and
John seemed to enjoy getting to grips with the terrain, and there were plenty of
interesting views to keep the team's spirits up in the heavy rain.
A great day was had by all, and Tristar managed to raise £ 1,710 for the hospital
- a new record for the event.
